The secret Life of United States Marine Corps wife

Once upon a time, when I was very fertile I suppose I will call this my Twenties. my best friend {we will call her Allyson now referred to Ally}and I newly wedded to Marines; for just over a year some how started a race to concieve our Second child for each of us. with in four months she began her first trimester. With all the Good stuff that goes along with being pregnant. i.e. throwing up and certain smells, words, almost anything could start her off gagging, which in turn made me gag, as I am an openly honest to goodness Social puker. coming out of her third month, I receive a call from her husband, he was with her at the hospital, bad news followed, Ally was loosing the baby. at present they were trying to stop her bleeding. I gasp for air as it felt as if the wind had been completely knocked out of me. I told him we were dressing to come up for support and to get their daughter away from the Drama at the Hospital. we hung up. just as we were walking out the door the phone rang again. her husband {Stewart} was on the line again. "Don’t worry to come" was he crying, I thought what sounded like actual sniffeling did he have tears?. They are prepping her for surgery. she needed a D&C dilation and curettage a simple procedure that fully dilates the cervic and scrapes the entire uterus out to begin natural healing on its own. He continued to say they would all be home in a couple of hours. They would see us then. I went to their Apartment and layered Quilts on her already Comfy couch, and gathered up up tonic water and sprites and put them into the refrigerator to chill, in order to keep her hydrated through her healing process. I heated her favorite Progresso Chicken soup and made her two grilled cheese sandwiches. These were just a few things we did for one another as mommy's day's off, "we" , each other were our only back up Having a cold or flu we wished not to spread to the family or the Marines they are real babies when they are sick . dont tell a soul. We Military wives. Marine wives to be specific,  knew there was a code among us that could never be broken and as we all went off into two's to support one another in any duty necessary. thats just how it was back then and when a newbie came in she was educated on the drill and duty of a marine wife and the expectation of her duty. usually it worked out as one wife left a newbie came in. until there were even the most organized two would always volunteer to help the newbie into our most Elite circle. if she wished to participate great if not that was ok as well, Although, if she choose to not join the organized circle of the team pairs, eventually she would almost always steer back toward our group. Say perhaps she had 2 or 3 young Children under five years of age and she had a Job interview, or had become sick. We will say she was sick for the sake of this Hub. and became overwhelmed with cooking cleaning laundry. baths for herself and children then the holder of the phone tree for that week would call the group and one would call the sick newbie{FYI we got all our inside information from our husbands} the weekly leader of the phone tree would arrange a time for herself to stop by and lend a hand for about an hour. the fix was in. The entire Group of about 12 pair of Marine wives would show up. some with mops and pail full of cleaning supplies, some with baby cleaning items no tear shampoo, no tangle spray for pain free hair brushing. Some with scented candles plush towels and Luxurious bubble bath or skin softening beads or a milk bath. others on laundry duty. As the look of surprise slowly removed itself from the newbies face and the children quieted down with the safest voice from the all of us, who had the two oldest to agree to a nice mommy bath just like mommy takes as promised. only if they kept their nice low inside voice. One group of two's sat down withthe newbie to explain we are here for one another for this very reason. to rescue mommy from ailments, lack of a sitter, be it for an hour or a day, this is what we do best, help each other out when needed, the reason we split off into two's is because it makes it easier on the group to only have one person to worry about 99% of the time. as this talk is coming to completion. meanwhile Laundry is separated and in the wash, children are being scrubbed to the bone. most of the house has already been picked up, including the used Kleenex and toys scattered among each other. at which point toys were disinfected in the kitchen sink or into the next load of laundry. on to striping sheets from all the beds. straitening the kids rooms organizing as if having OCD ever book Lego crayon. vacuuming completed, floors scrubbed, house smelling like humans live there again. some obvious unpacking done as a bonus, them mommy/newbie into her luxurious bath to soak for twenty minutes or more if needed. We all had children and therefore had lost all modesty to our naked bodies. So with the couch made up with fresh blankets, a fresh pillow cases, mommy/newbie comes out of the shower , dried with the most expensive, softest towels between the lot of us. Most likely from the home of the newest newbie almost always a newlywed. The one that still had towels that had not yet been ruined by well, life, children, Husbands. nice towels. So now that our children had all gotten to know one another in the hour and a half we were there we had permission to take the newbie/kids to the park or one or another's house for dinner . While mommy/newbie rested in her freshly cleaned home, Laundry washed dried and put away. a newly set coffee table with pain OTC pain relievers. a chilled sprite, and tonic water in a glass of ice a new box of soft Puffs. her hair freshly washed and combed. she had the rest of the day to rest and feel better. through the unknowing top secret grapevine of our husbands at work we got the message to the newbie/Marine to pick his fresh fed children up at "Sergeant John Doe’ house". where he would also find a dinner plate for himself and his sick wife. That is the Story of the Secret Life of the United States Marine Corps Wife. Welcome to our little Sorority.
